THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Fourth Sunday of Advent – 22nd December 2024 &
Feast of the Holy Family – 29th December 2024
I would like to wish you all a very blessed, happy and Holy Christmastide. I shall be remembering you in my prayers and at Christmas Masses this year.
The Christmas story has touched the hearts of many people through the ages. It has brought light, warmth, faith and hope to many generations. At different times of our lives a particular part of the crib scene may touch us. It may be the way Mary is looking at the child Jesus, or the star giving light, possibly Joseph wondering, the shepherds bewildered or even the gifts of the Magi! All this speaks to me that the birth of Christ is born yet again in our hearts and lives. The Nativity brings Hope.
Pope Francis has proclaimed that 2025 will be a Year of Jubilee, something that happens every 25 years. The theme he has chosen is Pilgrims of Hope. By happy coincidence, this Jubilee Year will be the first year of our new parish of Christ the King – Windsor & Ascot.
I hope that during the course of this coming year together in our own ways we will truly enter into this Jubilee Year and take every possible advantage of growing in faith and hope. There will be a variety of different activities in which we can participate. It may be a Holy Hour, a Pilgrimage or making a daily act of hope.
I have a particular hope and prayer that during the course of this year our communities of Windsor and Ascot will truly work together so that we can more forcefully be a beacon of hope in this part of our Diocese. I rejoice in the different characteristics of both the communities of Windsor and Ascot – long may this last. May our coming together as People of Hope strengthen our resolve to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate with joy and hope.

Christmas Offertory
Traditionally our Christmas Offertory ahs always been a personal gift to our Patrish Priests in recognition of their hard work and commitment, as well as supplementing their stipend.
This can be made in cash at the Christmas Masses, using the envelope system or using the contactless machines in St Edwards and St Francis. If anyone should wish to use a cheque, please note they should now be payable to CDP Christ The King so they can go into the Parish bank account and we can claim the Gift Aid if appropriate.
Alternatively you may use Give as You live our on line giving platform using one of the two links below.
