Churches Together in Windsor

Churches Together in Windsor have organised two days on the Bible:
Day one is Saturday 18th September from 9. 30am (for 9.45am) to 5.00pm at St Mark’s Church Hall, Dedworth Road, Windsor, SL4 4JS.
This will a most enjoyable way to learn about the Old Testament.
The cost is £14 including the Seminar Manual.
Please bring a packed lunch – tea, coffee, soft drinks provided.
To reserve your place contact Susan Hinds, 145 Maidenhead Road, Windsor, SL4 5EZ, sathindsbc@waitrose.com, telephone 01753 858123.
This course is not really suitable for under 11s, but 11 to 16 year olds are welcome with no charge, as long as they come with an adult with whom they can share the manual.
• After this you will be able to arrange the major people, places and events of the Old Testament in chronological order
• Locate the major geographical points and movements of the Old Testament
• Tie together the structure of the Old Testament books
• Read the Bible and pray daily with a new understanding and a rekindled desire.
Meanwhile keep Saturday 16th October free when the second day takes place, this time looking at the New Testament!
Hope many of you will be able to come and enjoy the day.

If you have not already contacted School Admissions at RBWM, you should do so now, in order to register your child and receive an Application Pack.
You should also see Mrs McAllister in the office at St Edward's First School for a Supplementary Information Form, which you should complete and return to her.
Application Forms for both RBWM and St Edward’s First must be received by the Borough and our school office by Friday 7th January 2011.

Recently arrived in the Parish?

St Edward’s Parish, Windsor has to be one of the more exciting and interesting parishes in the Portsmouth Diocese. We are located in an area where there is a lot of movement of people and so it is that we have a steady stream of parishioners moving in and out of the area.
This can be an enriching experience for the Parish but it also presents challenges for Parish administration.
While we may be aware of newly arrived parishioners, we are not always aware of the fact that others are moving away.
It would be much appreciated that parishioners who are planning to move away from the area could please let Fr Michael/Parish office know, and especially if those people are in the offertory envelope scheme.
Similarly, newly arrived parishioners are invited to complete a ‘Parish Enrolment’ form which is available both at St Edward’s and St Mark’s church.
Newly arrived parishioners are also invited and encouraged to join the ‘Offertory envelope’ scheme.
People who are ‘Tax-payers’ are also invited to sign a gift-aid form which allows the parish to reclaim tax on your ‘giving’ to the Church.

The Papal Visit

Parishioners are invited to add their names immediately on the “pilgrims” list for the venue they wish to attend for the Pope’s visit. There are two separate lists, Hyde Park and Cofton Park (Birmingham).
Please note that the Cofton Park Mass begins at 9.30am and this means that coaches will be leaving this area long before dawn on Sunday 19th September.

Hyde Park – Prayer Vigil

This takes place on Saturday 18th September, beginning in the afternoon and ending around 9.00pm. Each Pastoral Area in the Diocese has been allocated 100 places for this. The expectation is that people will make use of public transport to reach London and the £10 cost per person covers a Pilgrim Pack which includes a London Central Zone Travelcard.

Cofton Park – Mass

The Mass of Beatification for John Henry Newman will be celebrated on Sunday 19th September, beginning at 9.30am. Each Pastoral Area has been allocated 70 places for this. The only way to travel to this will be by coach as groups must arrive together. People should not expect to arrive in Birmingham by car and to be admitted as individuals. The cost is £25 per person, including coach travel from every Pilgrim Point in the Diocese and a Pilgrim Pack. Please be aware that the number of people wishing to attend may be more than the places allocated for the Pastoral area, in which case the names at the top of the list will have preference, so ACT TODAY.
