The structure of the Portsmouth Diocese, based on Deaneries and Parishes, has evolved over many years,
and reflects the demographic development and changes that have taken place over the last century or more.
The time has now come to review this structure, and it has been decided that the next stage
in the evolution of the Diocese is to form Pastoral Areas.
These Pastoral Areas will be larger than existing parishes, and, in most cases, smaller than existing deaneries.
St Edward's and St Mark's, along with the Catholic Churches of Maidenhead, Ascot and Cookham
will make up the newly formed Great Park Pastoral Area.
The objective is to ensure that in the future, Sunday Mass will always be accessible to as many people as possible on a local basis,
and also to support and assist our priests in the provision of their pastoral and sacramental ministry.
