The Explorers Group meet in the R.E. Centre at 8.00 p.m. on Friday evenings throughout the year.
Their primary function is to help adults who are not Catholic, but want to learn more about the Catholic tradition,
and maybe even join the Catholic Church.
We will be Exploring the Mass, the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Marriage and Holy Orders.
We do a lot of Exploring Scripture!
Any candidate or catechumen (someone who has not been baptised) is normally allocated a sponsor from within the group.
Most of the group try to travel to Portsmouth for the annual Rite of Election, when candidates and catechumens
are presented to the Bishop, prior to their being baptised or received into the Church at Easter.
Our group is also open to anyone who has lost touch with their faith
and is thinking about possibly renewing their interest.
Sometimes we will have baptised Catholics come to the group who, for whatever reason,
did not receive any further sacraments after baptism.
They will then prepare within our Friday night group and
receive the sacraments within the parish family at a Sunday Mass.
It is an informal group, and runs for two hours with a break for coffee.

The Mustard Seed Group grew out of our involvement with the ‘Growing together in Christ’ project.
We meet on Monday mornings at 9.45 a.m. in the R.E. Centre.
On occasion, we have used the Lifebuilder Guides on ‘The 23rd Psalm’, ‘Women of the Old Testament’,
‘Women of the New Testament’, ‘Jesus the Reason’, plus many other subjects,
and we are currently planning to look at ‘Exploring the Mass’.

Our Young People’s Choir meet to practise on Thursday evenings in St Edward’s Church at 6.00 p.m.
They sing at the Family Mass at St Edward’s on the first Sunday of every month except August.
They also present a fund raising concert every autumn, made up of songs, poems etc, and have raised as much as £1,200 for a local charity.
Children of 7+ are welcome to join us.

Our Adult Choir meet for practise once a fortnight on a Monday evening (Times and dates in the Newsletter) in St Edward’s Church.
We welcome anyone to join us, of any age, male or female, and there are no auditions!
Just a love of praising the Lord in melody will suffice.
