Brigidine School Windsor is one of the leading Independent Schools in the Area.
The School was founded in 1948 by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Order of St Brigid.
Brigidine Sisters are renowned worldwide for their passionate belief in education,
and although the Nuns are no longer directly involved in Windsor, the School continues to foster the Catholic Brigidine Ethos.
The School is a member of The Catholic Independent Schools Conference and is affiliated to Portsmouth Diocese.
The motto, “Strength with Gentleness” supports the daily life of the School.
All pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential, and to develop a self-confidence
and self-belief that prepares them to become confident and effective adult members of society.
The School welcomes children of all faiths and all backgrounds; girls from the age of 2 to 18 and boys from 2 to 7 only.
The School is fee paying and non-selective; its aim is to provide an excellent broad and balanced education.
The facilities are extensive and the professionalism and nurturing approach of the teaching staff is second to none.
The heart of the School is Queensmead, a charismatic red-bricked Victorian mansion
set in attractive grounds and situated a few yards from the Long Walk and the Great Park.
The buildings have been considerably extended and refurbished in recent years,
with networked ICT suites, fully equipped science laboratories and bright and spacious Art, Dance and Music studios.
There is purpose-built accommodation for the Nursery School, and at the last Nursery School Inspection in 2005
it was classified as “High Quality” in all main areas.
The school has an extensive curriculum including all standard subjects.
Pupils in Senior School take a minimum of 9 subjects at GCSE, with several taking 10 or 11.
Sixth Formers take either 3 or 4 subjects at A level.
Along with English, Maths, Languages and the Sciences, the recent most popular A Level subjects
have been Business Studies, Drama, Textile Design, ICT and Media Studies.
Class sizes are in the range 12 to 20, with an average of approximately 16.
The relatively small class sizes enable members of staff to be responsive to each child's individual character and needs.
For working parents, an extended day is available with supervised breakfast from 8.00am through to supervised study until 6.00pm.
Vacancies exist and new pupils are welcomed at several age levels.
